Made from locally sourced natural hardwood poplar! Poplar is a light/medium tan with tints of gray and green, detailed in photo "4". It is beautiful if left natural, but is smooth and ready to finish should you want to DIY a painted or stained finish. Total railing height is 19" above the mattress slat supports. As a reference, an 8" thick mattress would have 11" of railing above the mattress top. When used without legs, the mattress sets 2" off of the floor, allowing airflow. Our beds are built one at a time to ensure the highest possible quality and fit. Our beds are constructed using both screws and dowels, making them exceptionally sturdy. They are hand sanded smooth.
